Binder Method Part1

Tuesday, February 9, 2010 |
Okay, for months now you readers have been begging us to give you our opinions on how we feel about organizing coupons in a binder vs. the file folder method! We have finally taken the plunge and decided to share our thoughts with you. Here is a video we made of us sharing with you exactly a little about how my binder looks and how I organize it. Enjoy!

Be sure to be on the lookout for Part 2 on exactly how I add NEW coupons to my binder each week!

Thank you sooo much for sharing this I can't wait to see the next post and try this myself. Do you like this way better?

Thanks for the video. I'd like to see what your food storage looks like after all this time of couponing.

Wow, I thought you used the file folder system! The only reason I started doing coupons was because how easy it is not to cut out coupons, so I'm curious as to why you choose to do it this way when you don't teach it in your class... very curious!

I did start off using the file system and have used it for over a year now. I really like my file system and think it is a great way to start off using coupons. It is also a great way to be able to use coupons when you don't have a lot of time. A while back I shared with my readers that I was going to try the binder system, so I could give an honest review on how I felt about both methods. You can read the post here,

One of the reasons I hesitated in making this post was because I didn't want people who I taught in my classes to be overhelmed with the idea of a different method. I teach the file folder method because I have found it to be WONDERFUL, I am just giving my review on a different coupon method here on my blog. Some of my readers have been with me for almost a year now and they might like the idea of using a binder themselves. I am just sharing my opinions and thoughts =)

I think it is perfect that you teach the file folder method in your class, even if you've moved on to a binder. I NEVER would have started couponing if I thought a binder was the only way to go. It would have been way too overwhelming, and I wouldn't have been able to handle it efficiently due to my inexperience. Now that I've been at it for several months, I've decided to take the plunge into the binder. I've debated for a few weeks, but your post today has helped me be brave about it. I can't wait to hear what pros and cons you've come up with these past months. Love your blog!!! Thanks for your hard work!!!

I have decided to try the binder method because so many times I am at the store and know I have a coupon at home for something I find a great deal on but I don't want to buy it because I don't have my coupon with me. However, I can't seem to find the baseball card holders. Where did you get yours?

So are you going to keep with the binder method? I am skeptical because I always see ladies in the store with these huge binders and I think they look so funny haha! But I dont know if it is better or not... so I shouldn't bash it. My sister actually files hers in a coupon file by brand and it seems to work for her.

I have seen baseball card holders at Wal-Mart near the check out lane that has trading and baseball cards and the register is usually one of the express kind. I have also seen them at ShopKo in a display in the aisle near the greeting cards.

@Anonoymous- Target has good ones at the front of the store by their trading cards. You get 30 for around $5; they are sturdier than the ones you can get at Walmart and much less expensive than the ones at the office supply stores. HTH!

Forgive my stupidity with the computer, but I don't know how to view the videos (Part 1 and Part 2) for using the binder method. There are no links to click on that I can see, and there is just a large blank spot where I would expect to see a picture with a big sideways triange in it to "play" the video.

Me too. I can't view the videos.

You should just be able to click on the picture of me and the video will play? Is anyone else having a hard time seeing the video?
